Are you using the proper oil in your G.M. vehicle?

Are you using the proper oil in your G.M. vehicle?
Starting in 2011, G.M. has changed its oil requirements to
very strict standards. They are requiring the use of a new oil called DEXOS.
They are claiming that using engine oils other than the authentic licensed
DEXOS product could result in reduced engine performance or damage not covered
by warranty. Only oils displaying the DEXOS trademark and symbol on the front
label have been certified and licensed by G.M. as meeting the demand
performance requirements and stringent quality standards of the Dexos
specification.
Does it really make a difference on which oil I am using in
my car? Yes it does! With todays cars costing $30,000 and higher, why would you
want to jeopardize the engine trying to save a few bucks? We are seeing oil
related problems such as malfunctioning variable valve timing problems on the
newer cars. They require high quality oil to perform like they were designed too.
The oil does cost more but also lasts longer. It resists degradation between
changes, extending the time and mileage between oil changes. Here at Auto Lab, we use a full synthetic
DEXOS approved oil in all the 2011 and newer G.M. cars. We
recommend changing your oil at 5,000 miles instead of the standard 3,000 mile
which helps balance out the higher priced oil versus conventional oil. Make an
appointment today at Auto Lab in Troy to get your G.M. cars oil changed and
rest assured, DEXOS approved oil will be used in your vehicle to keep it going
for thousands of miles.
